Behaviors That Demonstrate a Strong Work Ethic

Lukas Politis red tie

In addition to contributing to community service organizations and supporting fundraising events, undergraduate Lukas Politis balances his school work with on-site work experiences. Lukas Politis describes himself as a dedicated employee with a strong work ethic.

A strong work ethic is one of the most common traits sought out by employers. By definition, a person with a strong work ethic displays several positive behaviors in the workplace, including perseverance, consistency, and reliability. While working hard is often associated with a good work ethic, the most effective employees place importance on productivity and try to deliver high-quality results without wasting time or resources.

These workers also have a deep sense of responsibility for the performance of the entire company, rather than just their own tasks. Not only do employees with this trait produce results, but they also serve as positive and professional role models for their colleagues. For this reason, a strong work ethic is often a requirement for leadership or supervisory positions.
